Sorting through the thousands of daily messages and postings

I have always had my favorite sites to scrape daily for information, but now that I am doing CA/CA full time I have increased my sources a hundred fold. Subscriptions were jamming the e-mail box,,,I thought if only I had a twitter feed for each so I can just get the 144 characters I need, then dig in if I need. The answer: esobi. Its an RSS feed Reader. There are free ones out there, Igoogle is about as good as any, but I wanted the ability to alert, store, and wanted massive amounts,,, and have them avaialbe offline when I travel.. Seems to be working well. Drawback: YOu need an RSS or XML feed to use. What do you all use?

I primarily use Google Reader. The ability to "star" items gives me a way to save things, the "share" function gives me an option to disseminate, comment and collaborate and since it lives in the cloud its available from any computer with a web browser connected to the Internet.

You can see my Google Reader shared items here:http://www.google.com/reader/shared/18230250784751375255

At the SLA 2009 conference I delivered this presentation on using RSS to tame information flows from large numbers of sources:

Well getting a clean feed takes a combination of good web-sources and appropriate taxonomy-based semantic filters. It seems your friend's RSS is clean and thus it may be worth to look at his/her taxonomy. Any insight?

Indeed Richard you seem pretty well covered as far as information retrieval is concerned. What about analysis, sharing, collaboration with others? What about aggregating those feeds together? Any insights would be helpful.

I use e-sobi. It is a rss and podcast feed reader. I can add the feeds I want, I can store pages for later use, I can set alerts. Seems to be more powerful than the free readers. SInce you can organize it the way you want, it provides a way to quick…
