I will like to thank Hudson Hawk for permitting me to use the following Alert.

The Americans, Swedes, Russians and the French are at daggers drawn to retain Indian Air Force as their client.

Lockheed Martin F-16 IN Super Viper - Costs USD 50 Million

Boeing F/A - 18 Super Hornet - Costs USD 57 Million

Eurofighter Typhoon - Costs USD 123 Million

Mikoyan 29 OVT - Costs USD 38.5 Million

Saab JAS 39 Gripen IN - Costs USD 48 Million

Dassault Rafale - Costs USD 94 Million

The Foreign companies are also required to transfer technological knowledge to Indian Aerospace Industry.

According to Indian government policy, the foreign aerospace company that wins the contract will have to ploughback (re-invest) 50% of the contract value in India or source the same amount through the Indian Industry.

Eurofighter Typhoon

Sources opine that EADS has invited India to be part of the 4 country consortium provided the Typhoon is chosen by Indian Air Force

Lockheed Martin F - 16 IN Super Viper

Sources opine that IN series is an advanced version of Block 50

Mikoyan 29 OVT Mig 35

Sources opine that Indian Air Force has maintenance facilities for Mig 29, if IAF buys Mig 35, it will mean total reliance on Russians for product support.

Boeing F/A 18 Super Hornet

Sources opine that the first 18 aircraft will be made in the US and from the 19th onwards, assembly will start in India. It is expected that by the time 126th aircraft is delivered by 2020, about 30,000 parts in each plane will be indian.

Saab JAS 39 Gripen IN

Sources opine that it is custom built for India with higher payload capability.

Dassault Rafale

The IAF already uses Dassault's Mirage 2000. Sources opine that this aircraft is as of now only being used by French Air Force and Navy

These 6 aircrafts can be divided into 2 categories:

1. The light weight, flyaway single engined aircraft
2. The heavier twin-engined machines
