SUMMARY:The Art of Forecasting: See what's next using the best informa
 tion
DESCRIPTION:Attention intelligence professionals in the Philadelphia/D
elaware/Brandywine Valley area:\n\nThis year, Eric Garland and Competi
tive Futures are celebrating the end of the anxiety-producing past 18
months of financial and geopolitical shenanigans. 2008 and 2009 were y
ears of theater of the absurd, courtesy of our largest and least-obser
vant institutions, which threatened to burn down and fall over on us,
supposedly taking our retirements, business models, hard currency, fav
orite DVDs, food supply, pets, profits, and self-esteem with them.\n\n
It’s 2010. The large institutions are still falling over, albeit mor
e slowly, letting you and everyone else reflect a bit on what to do ne
xt. But where will you get information? The media, themselves members
of large, nearly-extinct companies with obsolete business models, are
desperately trying to get you to go back to “normal,” which is fun
ny, since those norms made everything blow up last year. To accomplish
this, they are feeding you wishful thinking dressed up as forecasts t
o convince you of a return to this comfortable, late-1990s way of doin
g things. You have to base your view of the future on:\n\n\nSunny econ
omic forecasts based on stock speculation instead of shrinking incomes
and unemployment\nChairmen of the Federal Reserve forecasting the ris
e housing prices just before the detonation of the entire economy unde
r the weight of fake mortage-backed securities\nThe US Government pred
icting world oil supply as stable or steadily growing while key oil fi
elds go extinct and China and India put millions of cars on the road\n
Healthcare debates that appear to ignore the impact of the Boomer reti
rement, shifts in employment contracts, and broad public health trends
\n\nDespite this nonsense, you still need to know about the future in
order to make your business strategies. Some questions for you:\n\n\n\
nHow will you know good forecasts from bad?\nWho can you trust in a wo
rld without authority figures?\nHow will you make critical decisions a
bout your business, your career, your family, your life?\n\nOne way to
get around the pabulum masquerading as news is to develop professiona
l-level skills for identifying trends and evaluating forecasts so you
can make your own view of the future AND interpret it for your own nee
ds.\n\nBased on our expertise evaluating expert forecasts for corporat
ions and world-leaders for more than a decade, and now teach executive
s from hundreds of such organizations how to analyze world events for
themselves, we will teach you how to:\n\n\nFind the right sources\nIde
ntify what type of forecast is on offer\nExplore the assumptions of th
e author\nPick out the trends used to make the forecast\nIdentify impl
ications of the forecast\nAssess the probability of the future describ
ed\nCommunicate this infomation to other people\n\nAt the end of the d
ay, you’ll be able to:\n\n\n\nMake more informed decisions, more coh
erent strategies\nShow leadership in the workplace\nPlan your retireme
nt with more confidence\nChoose a future job path\nEnjoy thinking abou
 t the future\n\n\nFor more information visit https://competitiveintell
