People in the West can stop obsessing about learning Chinese
Of that 70%, the ministry said, “only 10% are capable of communicating fluently” in the language. In short, you don’t have to be fluent in Mandarin to speak better than 93% of China.…

besides desk reserach, I agree that being able to to primary study, speaking the intervewees' language is a necessity; yet there are lots of cultural context to make it difficult for a westerner to do interview in Chinese. (I know some Japanese /Koreans speaking good Chinese and understand Chinese culture better though.) Just like even many ppl speak good English it is still the best for locals to do primary research. And even in analysis, more cultrual- historical backround will be much helpful
Hi Klaus!

Hi Sandro!

I watched it. It is truely a great invention. I have colleagues in France who are workinhg on the same topic so have followed it closely. There has even been article presentations at some of our academic conferences which have presented the same topic. It is highly relevant for Business Intelligence and Big Data. To think what we will be able to do with smartphones in only a year or two from now.

By the way, it was predicted by Ray Kurzweil in his 1999 book The Age of Spiritual Machines. The prediction was to 2009!
