Re DCIF Stammtisch in Zum Spießgesellen

"13 Schoppen Rotwein" ( http://www.spiessgeselle.de/karten/Getraenke_online.pdf ) -- sounds auspiciously. ;-)

I wish you and the other DCIF members successful deliberations, Rainer! :-)

Best,
Tad

I concur both with Eduardo and with Andrew Garrett. Let me therefore quote his saying for difficult times: "Gott ist immer mit den stärksten Bataillonen" ( de.wikiquote.org/wiki/Friedrich_II.,_der_Große ). ;-)

It is a paradox - Competitive Intelligence is just as important (if not more so) in difficult times as in economically more favourable conditions. In recessionary times one has to work harder (in terms of trying to successfully sell which is what I do or find good market intelligence which is what we all do). You have to "comb the beach" - to look under more stones to find new opportunities for business. Knowing how receptive companies might be to market / competitive intelligence is something one can only find out by a combination of viewing public domain targetted knowledge and the use of hard work (that word again!) on the telephone and at meetings - making contacts. However some good points to note:-

1. The world has not stopped.

2. Don' t just be caught like a rabbit in the headlights of a car - i.e. don' t just read the headlines of business newspapers - dig deeper for the success stories or the interesting company / market adaption stories which lie beyond or behind the headlines.

3. Investments continue, new technologies and innovations continue, some companies are still expanding.

4. Some companies are even expanding because of the recession e.g. low cost airlines are finding their capacity utilitisation rates have risen as business and leisure travellers downgrade from full service cost airlines.

Just a few "back of the envelope" thoughts.....

Adrian
