Where do/should we publish CI papers?? Is this satisfactory or not?

A demonstrated sign of a healthy professional field is that there is regular knowledge development and dissemination occurring across a range of published channels, particularly amongst those who are studying it on a full-time basis such as would be done by university academics. We have shared concerns for many years about whether the field of CI a) has enough research being conducted, b) has enough research being successfully disseminated through refereed publication channels, and c) whether there are enough researchers, to ensure a healthy field both in the present and future.

To stimulate some discussion about this, I am providing below some data from a thesis done by Marisa Ramirez in 2005 at the University of North Carolina (SLIS) which compares where CI articles are classified in two of the larger subscription services (ABI Inform and LISA -- I have only included the ABI Inform table below since it contains far more content than LISA). What are our members' thoughts about the data below? Is this satisfactory in your view? Should we be publishing more elsewhere? What happens in the absence of a CI-dedicated, scholarly outlet like we had with CI Review (CIR) or the Journal of CI and Management (JCIM)? Your thoughts are invited and welcomed!!

Marie's thesis was entitled "A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BIBLIOMETRIC CHARACTERISTICS OF
COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE SCHOLARLY MATERIAL IN BUSINESS AND LIBRARY SCIENCE DATABASES" and can be found in its entirety at: http://etd.ils.unc.edu:8080/dspace/bitstream/1901/141/1/MarisaRamir... for those who are interested in reading more about this fascinating question.

Well getting a clean feed takes a combination of good web-sources and appropriate taxonomy-based semantic filters. It seems your friend's RSS is clean and thus it may be worth to look at his/her taxonomy. Any insight?

Indeed Richard you seem pretty well covered as far as information retrieval is concerned. What about analysis, sharing, collaboration with others? What about aggregating those feeds together? Any insights would be helpful.

I use e-sobi. It is a rss and podcast feed reader. I can add the feeds I want, I can store pages for later use, I can set alerts. Seems to be more powerful than the free readers. SInce you can organize it the way you want, it provides a way to quick…
