- About Me:
- A twenty-five year veteran of the aerospace and defense industry I felt it was time that I wrote down some lessons learned about business and strategy development focused on doing business with the federal government.
In the course of my business development life I have worked with most of the major aerospace and defense contractors and have been exposed to their approach to capture, opportunity pursuit, and proposal creation.
I have also worked with and been trained by most of the major business development consultancies that support capturing business with the federal sector. I have seen what works and have cautionary tales of disasters and why failures happen.
How many of you have read (or even seen) your company’s sector, division, or unit strategic plan. I bet you have gone through the flurry of generating charts, numbers, and write-ups sent them into the black hole never to be seen again. I have had that experience as well – I will also touch on what I feel is a better approach to the annual circus called strategic development.
