As co-founder of Proactive Worldwide, Mr. Maag leads the organization’s strategic development and manages the company’s practice directors. During his almost 20 years in the competitive intelligence field, he has assisted dozens of Fortune 500 companies with their business-decision activities and has advised numerous product and task force teams on innovative growth strategies and CI-related issues.
A sought-after and inspiring speaker, Mr. Maag has led a myriad of training seminars, interactive sessions, roundtable discussions, and workshops, with audiences ranging from international conference attendees to university students. Mr. Maag has written articles on CI for publications including Inc., Insight, American Executive, Business Profiles, and Competitive Intelligence Magazine, and has been featured in the Chicago Tribune. Recognized as an industry educator, he authored a chapter on competitive intelligence for a knowledge management textbook, “The Role of Corporate Intelligence Gathering in the Modern Business Decision-Making Process.”
Mr. Maag is a longstanding member and past Chicago chapter coordinator of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals and in 2006 received the organization’s prestigious Catalyst Award. In addition to being an active member of the Strategic Management Association (Chicago Chapter) and the Executives’ Club of Chicago, he has also served as an associate board member of the Pharmaceutical Business Intelligence Research Group.
