I think we are only now beginning to fully appreciate the full implications of Napster, just how disruptive a force it really was. Were it not for cascading effects from Napster, we may never have seen iTunes or the iPod. Had those two things never existed would smartphones be as ubiquitous as they are today?

For all the ink and bandwidth devoted to discussing innovation in the business press/media/blogs – little innovation actually occurs in the corporate world. Innovation occurs on the fringes of society, and it often resides or borders-on the other-side of the law.  Greatness often begins with felonious intent.
