- About Me:
- Arik Johnson is Chairman of intelligence research, systems and training consultancy, Aurora WDC, the professional services firm he founded in 1995, focused on Competitive Intelligence.
After stepping aside as CEO in late 2009, today Arik serves as Managing Director and lead architect at Aurora's R&D lab, think tank and intelligence policy institute, the Center for Organizational Reconnaissance. Arik directs hypothesis development on seemingly intractable intelligence problems and works with organizations of all kinds to develop a performance-driven organizational reconnaissance apparatus to monitor, detect, interpret and anticipate changes in the business environment that could help them outperform their peers.
Arik is a frequent speaker on topics that intersect his interests in subjects ranging from understanding emergent phenomena, anticipatory cognition and decision-making in business, science, government and culture, particularly along the intersection of intelligence and analytics, governance and leadership, collaboration and engagement, and innovation and design. He writes about his ideas at his company’s website, www.AuroraWDC.com and elsewhere.
Arik is a Fellow of the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals society and has chaired SCIP’s annual international conference (2006), served on SCIP’s board of directors (2004 - 2006), won SCIP’s Catalyst award (2005), and served as a chapter coordinator, as well as, trustee and development committee chair of the CI Foundation.
Arik has earned degrees in History, Political Science, Business and International Relations from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and today lives with his wife Kristina and children Liam, Grace, Zoe and Xander a few miles south of Madison. His family spends their time together on 40 acres of cropland and forest, cultivating hops for beer brewing, raising chickens, tending honeybees and sundry other amateur agriculture projects. He is active in his church and national Lutheran synod and volunteers helping young people in entrepreneurship programs and associated professional development opportunities.
