We are currently seeking talented Lead Competitive Intelligence Analyst for our San Antonio, TX facility.

PURPOSE OF JOB

A key business partner in providing a view of the competitive landscape and industry trends. Researches and analyzes the competition and product mix. Identifies and communicates trends, competitive forces, and penetration/segmentation strategies. Makes informed assumptions to determine probability of different scenarios. Translates findings into recommendations that proactively drive operational, tactical, innovative and strategic business decisions. Consults with management on competitive intelligence issues. Develops business recommendations, presents and communicates findings to various levels of leadership. 
Independently, under minimal supervision, manages/performs multiple complex to highly complex, and often unique, work assignments and problem resolution across systems, processes or channels; and navigates obstacles to deliver the work product. Drives and directs quality work efforts. Accountable for the quality of research results produced by the team, for achieving business objectives and results; and has the authority to make business related decisions. Serves as a coach and mentor; and provides guidance to cross-functional team members to ensure success in developing effective research solutions.

JOB DUTIES

  • Promotes and applies expert competitive intelligence analytical methodologies to address industry issues. Proactively identifies issues of concern.
  • Leads large scale, highly complex, competitive analysis projects that are without a clear or standard path. May collaborate with cross-functions teams to identify and define the underlying business issue. Facilitates the development, design, analysis and execution of the project.
  • Applies an expert level of knowledge in competitive intelligence research, analysis and industry trends.
  • Interprets complex research data and findings into business strategies, advises senior management on issues and presents findings to various levels of leadership.
  • Mentors efforts of less experienced peers and team members and provides input on performance appraisals.
  • Researches and identifies industry best practices and trends to increase effectiveness. Acquires, maintains and applies expert knowledge of the business, its products and processes, and expert knowledge of competitive intelligence research and analytic methodologies.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent business experience).
  • 10+ years experience in competitive analysis/intelligence or related research field.
  • Experience in Financial Services or Insurance industry, or related field.
  • Project/process management experience.
  • Experience leading large project efforts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of statistics or other quantitative techniques or disciplines.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant data analysis tools.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant industry data sources.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant industry techniques (i.e., SWOT, scenario planning, etc.).
  • Critical thinking/analysis and ability to identify trends.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

Preferred

  • Masters degree.
  • 12+ years experience in competitive analysis/intelligence or related research field.
  • Experience in Financial Services or Insurance industry.
  • Extensive project/process management experience.
  • Extensive experience leading large project efforts.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
