Tactical, Operational & Strategic Analysis of Markets, Competitors & Industries

Yammer is looking for a top-notch marketing professional to drive our Competitive Intelligence program. This is a key role in our Marketing organization that will serve as the company-wide expert on all of Yammer’s competitors and will drive our competitive differentiation across all our go-to-market activities. In this highly visible role, you will continuously monitor product and go-to-market developments with Yammer’s competitors, distill that research into key messages and positioning statements and create the sales and marketing content necessary to drive these messages throughout our go-to-market activities.

Responsibilities: 

  • Competitive research - gather real-time intelligence on all competing vendors in Yammer’s market and adjacent markets
  • Competitive analysis - Synthesize and correlate competitive trends and issues for top competitors. Maintain up-to-date SWOT analyses and complete in-depth technology, messaging, positioining, customer, and sales analyses for each vendor.
  • Competitive positioning and messaging - work with Executives and Sales to develop competitive messaging and plays for use in the field.
  • Competitive enablement - develop content and tools that help everyone in our company articulate competitive highlights and key messages/differentiators. Publish updates on competitor developments and recommended responses. Provide hands-on support on key competitive sales deals.
  • Provide input to product roadmap based on competitive strengths and weaknesses.
  • Drive win/loss analyses to understand opportunities for improvement


Skills and Experience: 

  • You are a fierce competitor. Losing is never an option for you!
  • 3+ years of software competitive intelligence, product marketing or management consulting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA is a plus (though not required)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to create stellar presentation slides
  • Creative and resourceful in being able to gather research and intelligence
  • Hands-on experience in developing creative and engaging sales tools and marketing assets (competitive playbooks, presentation slides, etc.)
  • Proven track record of working in a high energy environment with the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Proven record of partnering across the organization, with executives and individual contributors, and leading by influence to get things done.
