Patent filing information provides a public window into the activities of companies. Proper collection and analysis of this data can allow companies to anticipate external threats, identify business opportunities and develop strategies to achieve a leadership position.
Although patent information is “hiding in plain sight,” relatively few corporations include it in their competitive intelligence programs and, of those that do, many do not understand how to properly collect and analyze this data to obtain actionable insights. In this presentation, Jackie Hutter, MS, JD will provide an overview of the types and quality of information available in patents and will describe how your organization can benefit from including this source of data to enhance your competitive intelligence programs. She will also provide an overview of some of the tools available for you to use.
