Had a good SCIP 09 in Chicago and enjoyed seeing many of you there. SCIP's WLC (Women's Leadership Council) sponsored meeting was just after the opening reception--basically a second reception of just us women. It was informal this year so the entire hour was connecting with other women. I think it worked better than a sit down lunch. We had sign-ups for 3 dinner spots. SCIP's photographer took some pics, which I will try to locate so we can download there here. From this group, I saw Melanie, Suki, Milena, Carla, Claudia and Martha...I missed seeing the rest of you and hope you'll be at SCIP next year in DC.

On another bright note, Milena Motta was awarded a Fellow at SCIP, so it was nice to welcome another strong woman into that group! I got some pics there too, which I'll share when I get back to my home office with photoshop!

Happy Day!

It seems like a large percentage of us are not going to be able to make it to SCIP this year. Why is that? I'm wondering if people are so busy with work they can't go, or if budgets are too tight, or they just aren't interested...??

Thank you Heather. I hope you can finally come. We'll keep in touch anyway.

Please let me apologyze for my typing mistake in my previous comment. I wrote "fanny" instead of funny. But you all are "intelligent" people, so I'm sure you understood it correctly. :)

Eliana I would love to attend the conference in Chicago but it's not looking like I will be able to make it but if I do I will definately get in touch. I think it's a wonderful idea to get together.

Are you all going to SCIP Chicago? I am. It would be great to meet for a while, exchange our experiences and learn from each other. I am sure that we would have a good and interesting time.

Please let me know and we can arrange it.

Hi all. Since last time I wrote I wanted to share with you a fanny comic that I use in my training courses. I always say that it should be understood as the differences in attitude between a company practicing CI and another one that doesn't do it. But everybody feels identified with it. Women normally look more "intensively" by nature. We just can't help it.Obviously this is not 100% exact in all cases. I know men that really have X-ray view and women, like me, that never care about what other people is wearing. But even if I don't care, I see it ;-) Enjoy the illustration. Everybody remembers it when the course is over.

Hi all. just wanted to say hello from China, where we have been unable to access ning for nearly a month (we're not sure why but I'd love to know if anyone has the real reason!) In any case, we;re back and it's great to join this group. Many thanks Babette.

Different country, same problem. Sad. Today is the International Women Day and it is terrible that we still have this discriminating situation all over the world.

Right now I am experiencing and suffering this problem up to a really unbearable point.

It's good to have a place where we can share our views. I'll write more soon. Thank you all for your advices.

Eliana.

On a somewhat humorous note ...sort of ...I have a friend that headed up a large agency and had a team of women only. She found herself losing bids for clients. So she hired a good looking charming guy to join the team. She called him the suit. They started winning bids. His only job was to come to meetings and take the clients to lunch. Just shows you the bias so it is not our imagination!
