Hi Ziad, while I am very familiar with CI and particularly CI in the Asian Pacific region, I am not an expert in the middle east.  Maybe there are others in this forum who know the middle east better.  Have you checked to see if there are any groups that cover the middle east?

Thanks Babette.  I am beginning to see having an in-country relationship is extremely important.   Still in the early fact finding part of this, but I may have some other questions.

Hi Richard - In my experience, CI does not really differ across any region per se.  The process is still the same however I can point out that in Asia secondary information is often unsatisfactory as numerous governments do not collect, verify or publish accurate information.  So when doing CI in Asia you need to rely far more on relationships and local people.  The focus in Asia in the CI process then tends to be on primary information collection.

I suspect this would be the case for any CI activity undertaken in countries where governments do not collect nor publish accurate information - say many countries in Africa, South America and Eastern Europe.

The problem in the end though is still the same all over the world ---- the lack of analysis, of the information collected whether primary or secondary, to derive insights.

If you want to discuss this further, don't hesitate to email me.

Regards

Babette

How does CI in Australia differ from CI in other regions?  Are there different techniques, tools or approaches?  I have been tagged to come up with an international CI process, but I am thinking this might end up being regionally based. What are the best Australian CI resources, books, CI experts that I could tap into?

Hi All,

I am currently studying an MBA in MGSM and am currently undertaking CI as a subject. I have a major assignment due for this unit to provide a Consultant Report to the CEO of a Company on their Competitive Intelligence approach, problems/solutions and process for ongoing CI. This report is due on 01/09/2011.

Can someone please assist me by suggesting a company and a key executive that I can talk to about this or if working with a CI consultant, I would like to work with them on a case.

I have to carry out an environmental audit and include a talk with a key executive of the company or a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Can someone please assist me by recommending a company that I can approach as I am very interested in this but am finding it hard to find the right organization.

Hi All,

There is a Software Showcase featuring Competitive and Market Intelligence software, Comintelli Knowledge XChanger™ which will be held;
Melbourne: Lunch on Monday 25-October in Melbourne at 12:30-2:00pm,
Sydney: Breakfast on Wednesday 27-October at 8:30-10am.

We are fortunate to have the Comintelli founder and Executive Director, Gabriel Anderbjork, coming from Sweden to present. This is a great opportunity to see Comintelli Knowledge XChanger™ in action and hear from a global CI expert and thought leader in the industry.

This session is free of charge and in addition to seeing some of the leading Information Management applications in action you will hear about recent developments in the CI field.

The events have been posted to the ning site events and can be found at:
Melbourne: http://competitiveintelligence.ning.com/events/ci-software-showcase...

Sydney: http://competitiveintelligence.ning.com/events/ci-software-showcase...

This is also a good opportunity for all of us to meet up in Melbourne or Sydney.

- Tristan

It's good that we are finally getting some CI events running locally. To add to this there is also a CI Software Showcase featuring Comintelli Knowledge XChanger and possibly snippets from other technologies that is being run as a follow on after SCIP APAC. This is being run in Sydney (27/10, 8:30-10am) and Melbourne (25/10 12:30-2pm), and Gabriel Anderbjork, Comintelli founder and Global CI expert will be coming from Sweden to present. I will post these events once the details are finalised today / tomorrow.

We are also trying to arrange for Gabriel to run a "Managing Competitive Intelligence" half day workshop which he has presented content for around the world. If you may be interested in this let me know.
